On the plain of the northern coast of Peru, is the largest archaeological site in the region: The Pyramids of Tucume.
A set of pyramids of a remarkable size that astonish us and receive us with their myths and legends. Complemented with a visit to the Site Museum, it shows us an impressive archaeological collection found in excavations carried out in the place.
TÚCUME, THE VALLE DE LAS PIRÁMIDES + SITE MUSEUM (LAMBAYEQUE)
1 Day
We moved to 33 kms north-east of Chiclayo to reach Tucume, a place with a rich history where we find the archaeological site formed by 26 monumental adobe pyramids. It is thought that the first inhabitants of the place were the inhabitants belonging to the Lambayeque culture and later the inhabitants of the Chimú and Inca cultures.
Thanks to the archaeological project led by the illustrious Norwegian researcher Thor Heyerdahl, the fruits of the investigations are exhibited in the Túcume Museum.
