The Sicán culture was an ancient civilization that developed in the north of Peru between 800 and 1300 AD. The place was excavated for the first time in 1978 by the Japanese archaeologist Izumi Shimada, but only in 1992, a tomb of a member of the elite of the Sicán society was discovered.
From this archaeological site we extracted approximately 1.2 tons of precious metals such as jewelry and religious pieces that are now found in the National Museum of Sicán.
The second Museum presents all the majesty and richness found in the funeral chamber of the dignitary Moche “The Lord of Sipán”
Sican museum + museum royal tombs of the Lord of Sipán (FERREÑAFE – LAMBAYEQUE)
1 Day
We move to Ferreñafe, approximately 20 kms (25 minutes) from the city of Chiclayo, where we will visit the National Museum of Sicán, in which we can observe the different events of daily life of the Sicán or Lambayeque culture, including how they worked ceramics and metals, likewise, there are found tombs of the Sicán nobility.
Then we went to Lambayeque to make a tour to the Royal Tombs of the Lord of Sipán Museum, considered one of the most spectacular in America, which houses the most important Mochica archaeological remains and shows the ornaments and jewelry found in the tomb of the Lord of Sipán . With a design in the shape of a pyramid it is reminiscent of the ancient Moche, it has 3 levels, which show how the funerary structure was shaped in the tomb located in Huaca Rajada.
