The Sicán culture was an ancient civilization that developed in the north of Peru between 800 and 1300 AD. The place was excavated for the first time in 1978 by the Japanese archaeologist Izumi Shimada, but only in 1992, a tomb of a member of the Sicán society elite was discovered. From this archaeological site we extracted approximately 1.2 tons of precious metals such as jewelry and religious pieces that are now found in the National Museum of Sicán.
