Túcume Pyramids – Site Museum & Museum of Royal Tombs of Sipán
01 Day
(Full day – Lunch included)
We moved to 33 kms north-east of Chiclayo to reach Tucume, a place with a rich history where we find the archaeological site formed by 26 monumental adobe pyramids. It is thought that the first inhabitants of the place were the inhabitants belonging to the Lambayeque culture and later the inhabitants of the Chimú and Inca cultures. Thanks to the archaeological project led by the illustrious Norwegian researcher Thor Heyerdahl, the fruits of the investigations are exhibited in the Túcume Museum.
Finally we visit the Royal Tombs of the Lord of Sipán Museum, considered one of the most spectacular museums in America, which houses the most important Mochica archaeological remains and shows the ornaments and jewels found in the tomb of the Lord of Sipán. With a design in the shape of a pyramid it is reminiscent of the ancient Moche, it has 3 levels, which show how the funerary structure was shaped in the tomb located in Huaca Rajada.
Lunch included.
